Scarf Knitting Pattern
We truly love working with double knitting. As we've been developing this piece, it's clear how unique the fabric becomes — clean, structured, and beautifully finished on both the right and wrong side. It's a technique that really opens up new possibilities, from garments like jackets to more structured pieces that feel almost woven in their expression.
From the front with the clean edge.

This pattern was designed as a classic introduction to working with two colors in double knitting. The repeat is steady and rhythmic, which makes it easier to follow and gives you space to focus on getting comfortable with the technique rather than constructing something complicated. Once your hands settle into the movement, it becomes a very calm and satisfying process — with the most beautiful two-color work we know.
As always, our intention is to create pieces that you'll return to year after year, and this is no exception.
The hem from Right Side.
For our sample, we chose two colors that are quite close in tone. This creates a more subtle and refined contrast. We love how soft the result feels, but it's worth noting that lower contrast can make it a bit more challenging to distinguish between the yarns — especially when knitting in the evening. It may slow the process slightly, so it's something to consider when selecting your own color combination.

You will start to add all the stitches and separate them for the double knitting. This is done with 1 Strand Double Knitted Stockinette Stitch.

The hem from the Wrong Side has this contrast color in it. It is great to start like this with the 2 colors before adding the pattern. You can also continue with 1 Strand Double Knitted Stockinette Stitch if you want it all to be grey on both sides.
