DOUBLE KNITTED MAKE ONE LEFT (DK-M1L)

Adds a nearly invisible stitch that leans slightly to the left. Usually made on the left side of a stitch marker were increases will be made. We make the increases with both main and contrast color in double knitting as it gives stability to the garment.

Identify the horizontal strands between the stitch just worked behind the slip marker and the next double stitch on the left needle. With your right needle, lift both main and contrast color strand from front to back. The stitch will be twisted and depending on what is stated in the pattern, knit or purl into the back of the lifted strand with your right needle.

Once this increase stitch is worked again as part of the double knitting fabric. Separate the main and contrast color yarn as described in your chart or pattern and knit them separately as a double knit stitch.
