Closing off stitches at the top of a garment.
Cut the working yarn and leave a tail long enough to pull through all the remaining stitches. Thread it into a tapestry needle.
Insert the needle through each remaining stitch on the working needle, or as many stitches that's specified in the pattern. Slip the stitches off the working needle as you go. Once all stitches are on the yarn, pull gently but firmly on the tail to close. Take the tapestry needle and insert it into the stitches a few more times to close it even more.
Secure by sewing the tail through the centre of the gathered stitches and weaving it into the inside of the work.
