STEAM BLOCKING

A gentle and controlled method to shape and finish your knitted pieces. It allows you to refine the garment’s shape, enhance stitch definition, and give your finished work a polished, luxurious look without full immersion in water.

Lay your finished piece flat on a clean ironing board. Fill your iron or garment steamer with clean water and set it to a steam setting appropriate for wool or delicate knits. Do not let the iron touch the fabric directly.

Fully wet a clean small towel that does not risk coloring your garment. The towel should be fully wet but not drip any water. Place it on the garment where you start the steam blocking process then take your iron and push it down on the towel. This will create a cloud of warm steam that goes into your garment's every stitch. If the towel gets dry, wet it again and repeat this step all over your fabric.

Allow the garment to cool and dry completely flat. This helps to lock in the shape.

Never hang your knits in your wardrobe and if knitted in wool washing is usually unnecessarily. Just place them outside for natural air flow through the garment and fold them in your wardrobe.
