For this piece, we've been working with two strands of Mondial Extrafine held together, creating a soft fabric with a clean definition that really lets the structure of the pattern come through.

Pick Up stitches alongside the arm edge and then Permanent Fold it for this neat finish.
As we've been knitting it, we chose to make the usual size of the model for a more fitted look. That said, it's equally beautiful worn a bit more oversized. If you're considering extra length or a looser fit, we would recommend going up one or two sizes rather than simply adding length — this helps the garment sit more naturally over the hips as the cropped design is true to size.
"The cabling in this pattern is wonderfully repetitive — once you find the rhythm of the charts, it becomes a very calming and enjoyable knit."

It is hard not to think about different finishing options along the way. A slightly thinner, double-folded neckline could be a lovely variation, depending on how you'd like to style and wear the piece.
The construction begins from the top down, starting at the back and then joining as you go. Keeping track of the cables and charts is key here, as it allows everything to flow together seamlessly.
Many of our tutorials were actually recorded while working on this exact project, so you'll find close, step-by-step guidance in our studio. If you're a beginner, it might be helpful to take a look and see how it feels — approaching it stitch by stitch and row by row, this is absolutely a project you can complete even with cables.
